Baseball Mom

So, today is Andrew's first baseball practice. Well, we think it is anyway. We got his schedule from his coach which is different from the schedule on the Dulles Little League website. So, what to do, what to do. Lee will take him up there and see if anyone shows up! So begins the baseball season! Looks like he'll be on the Rockies. It's a AAA team and should be pretty fun! I just hope we don't run into psycho parents!!

Why do we even have wisdom teeth?

I'm trying to figure out why we have wisdom teeth in the first place. Pretty much EVERYBODY I've talked to has either had them removed or will have them removed in the near to distant future. I have been told for the past 10-15 years that I needed to have mine out. Well, as you all know, I'm a pretty big procrastinator. So, I just had them removed yesterday. Just 2 months before my 31st birthday. Yes, most people had them out in high school or college, so I'm just a little late. But, it's done. I no longer have any wisdom teeth. About 8 years ago, I had one removed in the dentist office. It was a no brainer because it had already grown all the way in. So, they just had to numb my mouth and yank it. Yesterday, I went to an oral surgeon to have the other 3 removed. As most of you know, I am a HUGE needlephobe (new word). I told the surgeon this as he was tying the stupid rubber band thing around my arm to find a nice big vein to stick the needle in. Just so you know, I am cringing just typing about it. Anyway, he told me I was a little white around the gills and leaned my chair back to get the blood flowing AND the laughing gas flowing. Wow, that's some good stuff! He told me to let him know when I started to feel like I had downed a few glasses of wine, but by the time I felt that way, I could barely speak! I think he knew it was time to put the iv in just by looking at my eyes that were probably rolling back into my head. That's all I remember!! So, when I woke up, I was shocked to hear that everything was done. I didn't see, hear, feel anything. Just the way it should've been! So, the nurse walked me down the hall where I laid down with a blanket (finally, it was FREEZING in there). Lee and Andrew came back so the nurse could explain to them how to take care of me for the next few days. I got a nice ride in a wheelchair down to the car. That was great! We left there and headed straight for the pharmacy. It was here Lee got all 4 of my prescriptions and some gatorade. I had to take my 600mg of Motrin and some antibiotics as soon as I got home. This was a HUGE challenge since I couldn't feel my face....my entire face was numb. This was probably pretty humorous to Lee and Andrew as I had to pull my bottom lip up around my cup so I could drink to take my medicine. The tough part was keeping nasty gauze in my mouth to stop the bleeding. Pretty gross actually. I pretty much slept all day yesterday and I slept pretty well last night as well. Today, I woke up pretty late and was able to come downstairs and spend the day on the couch. I just feel like somebody drop kicked me in the jaw. Definitely uncomfortable and I'm really just done with liquid and soft foods. My cheeks are puffy and hurt to just barely touch them. Sucks! Anyway, I suppose it could've been much worse, so I'm very lucky! Anyway, there's my story!

Hodgepodge

It's been forever since I've posted a blog. I'm trying to think of creative things to write about, but I can never figure out what to say! So, I think I will just try to write about whatever from now on. My blog may look like a Seinfeld episode, in that it is a blog about, well, nothing! But, it's a blog post none the less.

I suppose I will take this opportunity to write about a special event taking place in October.

A lot of you may remember when my friend Sarah and I walked in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day four years ago.

It's hard to believe it was that long ago. Anyway, the walk is back in DC this year so we decided to participate, this time as crew members. Sarah and her husband Greg and Lee and I will be on a team (Team Newlyweds - cute huh?) and will be at one of the Pit Stops on the event route. We will help motiviate the walkers, give them food and water, and just be there to help cheer them up on the long 20 mile a day walks. I am really looking forward to this event because it was truly incredible when we partipated in August, 2004. I'm excited to share the experience with Lee as well.

Let's see, what else have I not blogged about.......

Oh, I made a cheesecake!! Yes, I know, I don't cook or bake too often even though I LOVE to do it! Here was the final result....yummy huh?

Oh yeah, in other news, Lee's son Andrew moved in with us last weekend. I'm pretty sure you all knew this was going on, but I wanted to write about it! Andrew will be going into middle school this fall and is a very bright kid. I'm nervous because I won't have answers to any of his homework! HA! I'm excited to be a part of him growing up and I am really looking forward to the school functions we will get to be a part of. I can't wait for back to school night and things of that nature. I know that's strange, but I really am looking forward to it! Andrew and I spent the day building his dresser and putting some of his things away in his room. That was fun! I love building things and it was nice to have a little helper! He loved doing the hammering, that's for sure! Friday, Lee took Andrew downtown to the International Spy Museum where they both assumed new identities. Pretty neat I think! They went around DC taking pictures and really just enjoying the day. Oh, this was all while I was at work! BLAH! Anyway, here are some photos from the day.

Saturday, we celebrated my brother's 33rd birthday. We enjoyed a fabulous beef tenderloin (DELICIOUS) with some wonderful corn on the cob, salad and veggies! We finished up the evening with gift opening and my brother's favorite cake:
Sherbet Angel Food Cake

Today's Blog

I wish I could be as awesome as my friend Leah. She has something to blog about every day! I guess my life isn't as awesomely awesome as hers!! I do love reading her blog though, so I hope she continues to blog away!

Given that the Tour de France is in its second week, I thought I would enlighten everyone with a quote of the day!

If you want to know what it feels like to crash while racing in the tour:

"While riding in your car at 45 miles an hour, strip down to your underwear and jump out"

Happy Tuesday!

Just trying to understand......

Yesterday, a father left his 21 month old son in a car to die. This couple spent a long time trying to adopt little Chase and now he's gone.

There are many things I have forgotten in my lifetime.

I have:
1) forgotten to turn the curling iron off
2) forgotten to bring my computer to work
3) forgotten to buy milk at the store
4) forgotten to call my father on his birthday
5) forgotten how to do algebra
6) forgotten many things........

But, I cannot and will not EVER understand how ANYBODY can "forget" that their child is in the car and leave them there to die. I can't think of any excuse for this horrible tragedy. This isn't the first time this has happened either. People need to take a deep breath and slow their lives down just a bit. People say "stop and smell the roses", I say "stop and remember your kid is in the back seat". Get it together people!

The 4th of July Weekend!

This year, my parent's attempt at getting us to go to Wintergreen for the 4th of July finally worked! I'm glad it did. We had a great time! Lee and I left work at 1:00 on the 3rd and went home to gather our things and Farley! He got to go with us on our little trip. Aside from the stupid speeding ticket we got on the way down there, the trip itself was uneventful. We got there, unloaded the car, let Farley walk around and smell every square inch of the house, and settled in for dinner. Unfortunately, Lee had to do some work over the weekend so he took his laptop up to the Mountain Inn so he could dial in and do work. Meanwhile, we enjoyed some salmon at the house. Lee got back around 8:00 and we heated up some food for him. It was a pretty relaxing night (except when Farley wanted to go outside at 3 in the morning).
Friday was a beautiful day for golf. I played with Mom, Dad and Mark up at Devil's Knob. I played pretty well only losing 3 golf balls the whole round! Pretty good considering the course is very narrow and not forgiving at all! I shot a 102 which sounds high, but made me happy! If I could learn how to putt I'd be in great shape! While we were playing Lee took Farley for a hike. Here are some picture from that excursion! What a tired puppy after that hike!

Friday night we headed up to the ski slopes to watch the fireworks show. Fantastic!! We brought a ton of food including: cantaloupe soup, sandwiches, hummus, bean salad, pasta salad and wine! The weather cooperated and we had a fantastic time!

We woke up Saturday morning to a wonderful rainfall. No golf for me today! Oh well. Instead, Lee and I went up to the Mountain Inn where he did some more work and we walked around the craft fair and the shops in the Inn. The rest of the day was spent relaxing.

Sunday we woke up, packed up, and hit the road around 11:30. We headed to Lee's parent's house for a late lunch/early dinner then head on home. Great weekend!

The Nationals

So, last night was the Noblis Intern Social Event at Nationals Park. We were bused down there and were given tickets loaded with $35 to do with what we wished! Lee was able to come with the group since there were a few extra tickets available. We sat behind home plate in the PNC Diamond Club. Great seats!! Somebody in our group even caught a foul ball. Unfortunately, $35 doesn't really go too far at a ball park, but Lee and I managed to squeeze in two hot dogs, a basket of fries, a soda and a water for a shade under $30! So, that was most of one ticket. We enjoyed Helmet Sundaes (soft serve ice cream with one topping in a little plastic baseball helmet) for just $5 each! A steal! I was able to purchase a Nationals t-shirt with the rest of our funds. All-in-all, a great night! Well, except that the Nationals played like crap! Oh well, can't win them all I suppose! Lee was able to get a bunch of pictures of the group and the stadium. I have posted a few for your viewing enjoyment!

This one is Genny....she's the intern I mentor.....(I think Lee caught her offguard)

First Day of Summer BBQ

Saturday Lee and I had his family over for a BBQ. We did the normal dogs, burgers, sausages for the main meal and I made my sister's Bok Choy Salaaaaaad (there's a reason for all the a's, since my sister and brother-in-law like to sing that when they say it). I now have all my in-laws doing the same thing. Thanks Maureen and Andy! Anyway, I also prepared a pasta salad that ended up being delicious! It was so simple, but the dressing made it spectacular!! It is a Greek marinade/dressing from Greek Gazebo. My co-worker suggested it and I'm SO glad she did. Yumm-o! I made margaritas (apparently a little strong...woops!) and we had iced tea, lemonade, beer and water as well. All in all, it was a great time. They didn't stay too long and we had TONS of leftovers! Greg and Sarah were kind enough to grace us with their presence on Sunday to help us eat more of the food and drink more of the drink! It was a great weekend!

And.....before Greg and Sarah came over, Lee talked me into going on a bike ride with him. We ended up doing about 18 miles! That is the longest road bike ride I've ever been on! It was great. The weather was perfect! I look forward to getting out there again!! I wasn't too keen on going but Lee coaxed me into going and I'm glad I did!!

Broadlands Live

Tonight, Lee and I went to Broadlands Live. We don't actually live in Broadlands but they are kind enough to let other Ashburnites into the venue. It was actually pretty cool. There were about 8,482 kids with 8,482 strollers and/or wagons, but all in all......a great time! I know we will be better prepared next time we go. The rules stated no glass bottles, and for those of you who know us, you know we don't do canned beer. So, we came empty handed. Lee brought a couple airplane bottles of Jack for his coke, but that was about it. We learned that we can bring bottles in our cooler but we have to pour the beer into plastic or styrofoam cups. Good to know for next time!!! Also, we might have been the only people there that weren't chasing kids all over the place. As fun as that might be, it was nice to just sit still and listen to halfway decent music. If the sound guys could just figure out their equipment we might just be able to hear the music!! I'm sure they'll get all the glitches worked out for the next show.....Gonzo's Nose will be there! So far we are really enjoying living in Ashburn.

Backyard Bunny

Since we moved into our new place in Ashburn, we have noticed a plethora of rabbits in the neighborhood. Well, Farley has DEFINITELY noticed these rabbits and normally sees them way before we can brace ourselves for his lion instinct to chase and pounce! Anyway, yesterday I came home from the gym (after my spin class was CANCELED) and there was a pretty little bunny in the backyard. I knew this because Farley was going NUTS at the back door. So, I grabbed the camera and took a few shots.....here are some of the good ones!

Noblis Intern Program

I know, I know.....it's been FOREVER since I posted a blog! So sorry. So, to my fans out there.....Erica......Here is a new one for your reading enjoyment (or boredom, depends I guess)

Noblis (for those of you who don't know, that's where I work) started a pretty extensive internship program last summer. Apparently we've always had interns working here but last year was the first really organized program. To give some background on our company, visit our website. I have been working here for almost 10 years and it appears I will be a lifer. It truly is a wonderful place to work (overall). But I digress.......This year I received an email that was sent to a lot of the younger professionals here at Noblis asking for volunteers to mentor the interns this summer. I jumped at the opportunity because I knew it could be a lot of fun.

I was selected to be a mentor and am SO happy I did! I am getting so much out of this program. I know it's really meant for the interns, but I can't imagine any of the other mentors would say they aren't getting anything from it. There are 18 interns participating in the program this year. 3 of them are high school students and the rest are in various stages of their college degrees. I was assigned to Genny. She just finished her junior year at William and Mary studying International Business, Process Management and Consulting. She is interning in our Contracts department. I work in Procurement which is in the same division as Contracts, but it's very different work. So, I can't really help her with the work she is doing, but my job as a mentor is to ensure she is engaged in the work all summer long. The program started on the 9th and I fear she may already be losing interest. (Don't tell anyone, but you couldn't pay me enough to work in Contracts....well, maybe you can, but that's not the point)

At any rate, for the first few weeks of the program there are 2 intern lunch functions a week which I get to attend (free food!). These sessions are very interesting. This is where I am really getting a lot out of the program. So far we have talked about finding our strengths and dealing with our weaknesses and strategic thinking, planning and implementation. These are all things I am very interested in learning about, so this is working for me!

A few things I am learning as the program moves along:
1) The interns are so young
2) I feel very old
3) The interns are all SO polite
4) The interns like to call people Mr. and Mrs.
5) The interns are VERY eager to learn
6) A lot of the interns are not shy
7) A lot of the interns are shy
8) A lot of the interns have NEVER worked in an office before and don't know how to use fax machines
9) A lot of the interns have NEVER worked with people, only computers, so they have no communication skills (one thing I've already seen improvements in)

All in all, this has been a wonderful experience and it is only week 2! Next Tuesday we get to go to a Nationals game. We are taking a bus to the stadium, sitting in great seats, eating free food, and watching the game! What a great time!!!

2008 Greater Washington Eco-Golf Classic

About 3 weeks ago, I was invited to play in a charity golf event; The 2008 Greater Washington Eco-Golf Classic. I was SUPER nervous because I was going to be playing with people I did not know and I only get out a few times a year. At any rate, I played LIGHTS OUT! I definitely don't like to brag about myself in any way, but I have to say, I really played well on Friday. My drives were amazing and my short game wasn't too shabby either! I played with 2 Noblis folks and a friend of one of them. Those guys really made me feel welcome to their team and were definitely encouraging. Friday was the PERFECT day to play golf. It wasn't too hot and there was just enough breeze to make us feel comfortable. Although, I missed some spots on the back of my arms with the sunscreen...oops! All in all, a GREAT golf day!

Can't wait to get out there and hit 'em again!

The 2nd Annual Leesburg Bakers Dozen

Saturday marked the 2nd Annual Leesburg Bakers Dozen sponsored by Plum Grove Cyclery. Lee rode in this 13 hour mountain bike relay race last year with Amy and Tom Marquis. This year his team was made up with Dharma Dill, Marc Genberg and Lee. What an exciting day. The weather definitely held up for the racers. It was the most beautiful day!! The sun was shining, the beer was flowing and the cows were mooing! Oh, and the bulls were kept away by electric fences. BIG bulls. But I digress......The race kicked off at 11:00 AM with about 100 plus racers starting their first lap. Dharma took one for the team and headed out first with Marc following her in second and Lee in third. Dharma had an excellent first lap then Marc went out for two in a row.

Just to explain my role in this whole thing.....I'm one of the team "moms". I am there to get what anybody needs before, during, or after their lap. Water, sandwiches, cookies, beer, you name it, I get it! Although, I definitely wasn't expecting a trip to the emergency room on Saturday. Yep! Nick, who has become a really close friend to Lee and me, was out on the course, came through between his first and second laps to get a fresh water bottle from me, then went out on his second lap. Lee left for his first two shortly there after. When Nick came in from his second lap, everybody noticed he had blood all over his face and he was riding his bike very unsteadily. When he didn't really respond to anybody, we knew something was VERY wrong. He came in, sat down, and just looked completely dazed. We grabbed an EMT who happened to be right across the way, and he told us we needed to get him to the ER immediately, or as I like to say, STAT. Without hesitation, I volunteered to take him. Meanwhile, Amy Casey, a racer and wife of one of the main Pedal Shop racers, Jim, called Erin, Nick's wife to let her know what was going on. I exchanged numbers with Erin, got Nick's insurance information, and I ran (yes, I actually ran) to get the truck and came back to pick up Nick. The EMT told us to go to Cornwall, which is the stand alone ER at the old Loudoun hospital center. We were on our way and Nick was talking up a storm the whole way. This was a good thing, except he kept repeating himself over and over. That is not a good thing. Something was definitely not right. I just kept talking to him and didn't let him know that I was scared out of my mind, to the point I was actually crying. To make things worse, Leesburg was hosting some flower festival on Saturday so all of downtown was blocked off. I had to figure out where the hospital was through all the detours. I finally found it and got Nick inside. Surprisingly, they took him right in and I was able to stay with him, which was good because I had to let them know that he had been totally repeating himself the whole drive there. He seemed completely fine (other than the HUGE fat lip and scrapes all over his face). He knew all the important things he needed to know, i.e. birthday, SSN, wife's name and numbers, insurance info, everything. And in true Nick fashion, was making jokes about things. They got him back right away and the Doc came in to evaluate. They took him for a CT scan and when they brought him back, he started remembering what had happened. THANK GOODNESS! Because, for the past 45 minutes, he had been saying (over and over) "I don't remember crashing". So, this was progress! We just sat there and talked until Erin got there (she was SO calm, as if she had been through this before....) After we filled Erin in on what was going on, the Doc came back to say his scan was ALL CLEAR! Yippee! He just had a pretty bad concussion and some abrasions. No stitches necessary and his noggin, for the most part anyway, was just fine.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Lee was sad because I had promised him an oatmeal raisin cookie between laps! Little did he know, all the drama that had played out while he was out on the course! I think he has forgiven Nick for his insensitivity and selfishness. HA!

Anyway, the three of us headed back to camp so they could pick up all his stuff and his bike. Once he got back, you could tell he wasn't feeling great, but he was DEFINITELY back to his old self and was able to tell people what had happened. They grabbed his stuff and headed home for much needed rest!

Wow!!!!!

So, the rest of the day went pretty well, no more injuries, except Aaron's eye! He got stung or something, and his eye just swelled right up! Other than just people being exhausted and sore, everyone was A OK!

Lee and Marc both did 5 laps each and Dharma got a second wind and was able to push out one final lap around 11 PM for a total of 6! Way to go Dharma!! Their team did really great and I'm really proud of them!

Aside from Nick's injury, the day was really great. Great friends, great beer, and great bike riding! I can't wait to go back next year!!

We moved!!!

So, we moved this weekend. It's been a long time coming, but we finally got into the new place. It is so much nicer than where we were previously. We are definitely looking forward to entertaining in the very near future! We painted Friday night and all day Saturday (with the help of Greg and Sarah, with whom we would have NEVER gotten it finished), and we moved all (well, most) of our stuff on Sunday. We got to sleep in the new place last night! So exciting! Here are some pics:

It's GOLF season!

So, today was the first time I played golf since Labor Day weekend 2007. It's been a while! My mom got a new driver for Christmas, which meant that I got her old one. And boy am I glad I did!! It's a fabulous Calloway Big Bertha and made driving VERY nice today. I didn't have a great drive on all 9 holes, but I did on most! (If I do say so myself) Lee took the liberty of taking a bunch of pictures, so I thought I'd post some!!

Our Honeymoon - Day 9 (LAST DAY!)

December 1, 2007

Today is our last day on our honeymoon. We will be flying home tonight. So, we woke up this morning and started watching the ACC Championship game between our beloved Hokies and the Eagles of Boston College. We watched a little bit as we packed up and headed out. By the way, in case you didn't hear...Hokies prevailed and became the ACC champs again! Anyway, Tom and Betsy are going to take us to the airport and feed us a big dinner beforehand, so we started on our way south to San Jose. And, wouldn't you know it, I had Dionne Warwick's "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" stuck in my head the whole day. But I digress.....Tom told us about a place we could go see some Redwoods since Muir Woods didn't pan out for us at the beginning of the week. The place is called Felton Crest. They actually have a steam engine train that runs through the mountains. Unfortunately, we didn't really have the time to do the tour, so we headed up the road to see if we could just see the trees from one of the state parks. The parks were closed because we were out of season, so, again, no redwoods for us! Oh well! So, back on the road and towards San Jose. We arrived at Tom and Betsy's around 2:00 and relaxed before a wonderful dinner and conversation. I was able to print our airline tickets from their house and it was time to go. They dropped us off at the airport, we said our goodbyes, thanked them for the explorer, dinner, and the ride to the airport and we were off. We got on the plane and braced ourselves for the long overnight flight. We thought we would be able to sleep.....we were sadly mistaken. A screaming baby kept everybody awake and alert all night. Oh well! Once we got our bags, dad was waiting outside for us and took us home for a LONG day of sleep!! We hit the couch and just Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. What a wonderful, amazing, and unforgettable trip. We both can't wait to go back and relive our wonderful journey!

Our Honeymoon - Day 8

November 30, 2007

Today we are going to Monterey. We got ready, ate breakfast at the hotel then headed down the highway to Monterey. We got there and found a parking garage right by the Aquarium which was our first stop. We walked around there for about an hour and a half. We weren't really impressed but we did see some cool stuff. They have a white shark that they got after a fisherman caught it in his net. He called the Aquarium as soon as he caught it and they took him in. He is still under a year old so he is only a little over 5 feet long.

We also got to watch some sea otters play. They are SO cute!

After we walked all the way through, we went outside and looked for a place for lunch. We found Willy's Smokehouse BBQ & Grill. I had a cheeseburger and Lee had a grilled chicken sandwich. both were very good, but we are both very ready to not be eating out every meal! Today is a chilly day, so we decided to go ahead and do the 17 Mile Drive. We followed the signs and headed along the coast towards the entrance gate. Along the way on Oceanview Blvd, we found a nice spot to pull in and take some pictures of the surf.

Boy is it chilly....So windy!!!!! We headed towards the entrance gate again and paid our $9 to drive on the famous route. Our first stop for pictures was at Point Joe. I think I got out of the car for a whole 30 seconds or so! Our next stop was at The Lone Cypress.

This was where a cypress tree was sitting out on a perch and has been there for over 250 years! We continued around the drive seeing HUGE houses along the way. We finally made it around to the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links. All of the courses in this area are so beautiful! I would love to play out here some day. After passing Pebble Beach, the road took us away from the coast and into the hills where we got to see a lot more huge homes. Some are for sale! Ha! We became pretty bored with the drive so we decided to go to Carmel. Not much to see in Carmel unless we wanted to park and walk around the town. It was too cold for that, so we headed down Hwy 1 towards Big Sur. We couldn't be happier with that decision!! Just south of Carmel, we stopped at Vista Point to take some more photos. Just gorgeous! We continued along the coast and came across Rocky Creek Bridge.

This bridge was built in 1932 and was the bridge I was looking forward to seeing! Lee got out to take some pictures of the bridge and I decided to hop out to take a look too. It was so unbelievably windy that we both decided it would be much safer to get back in the car and continue on the way down the coast. This road is so curvy and you are right on the edge of the cliffs looking straight down into the ocean. So scary, but so beautiful at the same time. We came around a corner only to find another bridge, twice as big as the Rocky Creek Bridge. THIS is the bridge I was excited about!! I had seen it in commercials and the Tour of California bike race went across it and I remember being so excited to see it and drive over it. We pulled off to the side along a gravel dirt road to get a better picture of it. I got out of the car and walked over to look down. I couldn't even see the bottom! This was the Bixby Creek Bridge, also built in 1932. It looks exactly like the Rocky Creek Bridge but was probably twice as long.

This drive was SO worth it. I will suggest this drive instead of paying for 17 Mile Drive any day of the week! We continued along the winding road along the coast. This road has been in so many commercials, TV shows and movies. And righfully so! AMAZING!! We made it to Big Sur and pulled into Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, paid our admission and drove around for a bit. We started to get hungry so we headed back to Monterey to get some sunset pictures and find a place to eat for our last night. We stopped at the same pull-off on Oceanview Blvd. to get some more pictures but the sun had already set. The ocean still looked amazing so Lee put on his jacket and hat and grabbed the camera and tripod to get some pics. I thought Lee and the camera were going to blow over into the water!

He hopped back in the car and we drove back towards the town and found a restaurant called Lattitudes at Lovers Point. they sat us by the fireplace, which was PERFECT! We wanted to take our time here since it was our last night, so we ordered a bottle of Napa Ridge 2006 Sauvignon Blanc and their calamari and artichoke hearts appetizer. We took our time before we ordered our meals. Lee ordered the prime rib and shrimp scampi special and I ordered the Chef's Choice which was a pasta dish with the chef's choice of seafood. It included mussels, clams and salmon in it. Delicious! We were greeted by the chef and owner Tene Shake. He has his own local cooking show here. We finished the evening with coffee and dessert. Lee had pumpkin pie (which he was DYING to have since we didn't have it at Thanksgiving) and I had an apple tort. A perfect ending to our honeymoon! We headed back to Santa Cruz to get some sleep before out last day.
